HC Deb 04 July 1986 vol 100 cc668-9W
Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report the bids submitted for housing investment programmes since 1981 and the respective allocation made in each case.

Sir George Young

In their housing investment programme submissions local authorities are asked to specify the total programme of capital expenditure they propose to undertake in the relevant year. The figures are therefore intended to cover not only expenditure financed from allocations, but also the very considerable amount of expenditure financed from other sources. Proposed programmes and allocations for the years 1981–82 to 1986–87 have been as follows:

£ million
Proposed Programmes Allocations
1981–82 *2,917 1,795
1982–83 †2,968 2,192
1983–84 3,559 2,233
1984–85 4,481 1,853
1985–86 4,868 1,600
1986–87 5,416 1,465
All figures are in cash terms unless otherwise indicated.
* November 1979 prices.
† November 1980 prices.
