HL Deb 04 July 1986 vol 477 c1251WA
Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish details of the programmes under which the Department of the Environment and the non-departmental public bodies for which the department is responsible offer grants to voluntary organisations.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Elton)

The Department of the Environment and its sponsored bodies have a wide range of grant programmes through which they assist the voluntary sector. The department has just published a pamphlet outlining these grants which are given by the department, the Countryside Commission, the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission, the Nature Conservancy Council and the Sports Council. We have no doubt about the valuable role that is played by voluntary organisations across the entire spectrum of interests covered by the department and its sponsored bodies. We are sure that voluntary organisations will find this leaflet a very useful guide when seeking support for their activities. I have arranged for a copy to be placed in the Library.
