HC Deb 04 July 1986 vol 100 cc690-1W
Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many children have (a) been injured and (b) died through falling off balconies during each of the last five years for which records are available; and of what ages they were.

Mr. Whitney

I regret that information is not available on the numbers of children injured through falling off balconies. The table shows the total number of accidental deaths registered with an underlying cause of death as "fall from or out of building or other structure" in England and Wales in each of the last five years for children aged under 15 years, and also, of those, the number specifically stating -fall from balcony" or similar term.
