§ Mr. Berminghamasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many (a) female and (b) male prisoners were sentenced to prison again within (i) six months, (ii) six months to one year and (iii) one year to two years of their original conviction in each year from 1980 to 1985;
(2) how many (a) female and (b) male prisoners were convicted of another offence within (i) six months, (ii) one year and (iii) two years of their release in each year from 1980 to 1985.
§ Mr. MellorThe readily available information relates to sentenced persons reconvicted within two years of discharge from a Prison Department establishment and is published annually in "Prison Statistics England and Wales". (Information about those discharged in 1981 is given in tables 8.1, 8.3 and 8.5 of the latest issue, for 1984, Cmnd. 9622). Figures for persons released in 1982 will be published in the issue for 1985 and information about persons released in later years will be published in subsequent issues. Additional information could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
