§ Mr. Ian StewartFigures for the purchasing power of the pound sterling for all years from 1948 to 1984 are published on page 114 of the 1986 edition ofEconomic Trends annual supplement. A figure for 1985 is given on page 42 of the May 1986 edition of Economic Trends. Both these publications are available in the House of Commons Library. The published figures are based on 1980 as equal to 100. Figures based on 1964 as equal to 100 can he obtained by dividing the published figures by 4.73.
