HC Deb 29 January 1986 vol 90 c547W
30. Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received on the European Commission's proposals for an agricultural development programme for the Scottish islands; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John MacKay

My right hon. and learned Friend and my noble Friend the Minister of State have received a number of representations, including those from the hon. Gentleman, encouraging the Government to look favourably on the European Commission's recently-published proposals for the Scottish islands, excluding the Western Isles.

Our evaluation of the proposals which the Commission has tabled, and to which I referred in my written reply to the hon. Gentleman of 13 January, at column 482, is still proceeding.
