§ Mr. TraceyAll governing bodies have been clearly advised of the Government's commitment to the Gleneagles agreement. They are aware that Her Majesty's Government discourages sporting contacts with South Africa, and that current Sports Council and Government policy ensures that no public funds are made available to support such contacts, as they might otherwise be for competition with other countries. I only rarely need to approach individual bodies to repeat or clarify that advice.
