§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Prime Minister if she will raise at the next meeting of the European Council the effect on the economies of Third world countries of the Communities' policy of providing export rebates for the disposal of surplus agricultural products.
§ The Prime MinisterI will bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind in deciding, nearer the time, what it might be appropriate to raise at the next meeting of the European Council.
§ Mr. Cohenasked the Prime Minister what action Her Majesty's Government have taken specifically to implement each of the conclusions in chapter IV of the special report of the Court of Auditors on the system for the payment of refunds on agricultural exports (85/C215/01); and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterThe report is not addressed to individual Governments and it is for the European Commission in the first instance to decide what further action needs to be taken in the light of the court's findings.
However, the Government would consider positively any proposals for cost-effective measures which would improve financial control over the use of Community funds.
