§ 22. Mr. Phillip Oppenheimasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what conclusions he draws from the latest research carried out by his Department into the state of child care in Britain.
§ Mr. WhitneyI recognise the importance to the improvement of social work practice of the findings of the recent research commissioned into aspects of work with children in care. A programme of dissemination has been initiated to bring these results to the attention of social work practitioners and managers. The research suggests that social work with families and children is complex and difficult, and high professional standards and sophisticated social work skills are needed.
