§ Mr. WaldenThe science budget, from which the research councils receive their grants in aid, will be £614 million in 1986–87, an increase in cash of £15 million over 195W previously published plans for that year. In addition it is estimated that approximately £600 million will be spent on scientific research in universities from University Grants Committee funds; this figure is based on an estimate of the distribution of universities' resources among different functions.
