§ Mr. MellorThe Animals (Scientific Procedures) Bill contains a provision to continue the present prohibition on the re-use of an animal which has undergone procedures involving the use of an anaesthetic from which it has been allowed to recover. The possibility of an amendment to the Bill to allow a limited relaxation of this prohibition has been discussed during the passage of the Bill in another place but no such amendment has been made. Consultations on this matter are continuing.
