§ 95. Mr. Butterfillasked the Paymaster General what steps he is taking to reduce bureaucracy and speed up the processing of applications for grants under section 4 of the Development of Tourism Act.
§ Mr. TrippierThe English Tourist Board is aware of my Department's wish that it should avoid unnecessary bureaucracy and delay in processing section 4 applications. Last year, it introduced simpler application forms and reduced some of the documentation required for smaller projects and also devolved responsibility for appraising such cases to the regional tourist boards, which has improved the time taken to process applications. The ETB is continuing to look at ways in which its procedures could be further improved and streamlined.
