asked the Leader of the House:

Whether he will list the Private Notice Questions which have been (a) allowed and (b) disallowed in the last five years.

Records are not kept of those Private Notice Questions which are not allowed. the following list includes all those Private Notice Questions which have been allowed since the beginning of Session 1980–81. In the case of those Questions marked with an asterisk, comparable Private Notice Questions were asked in the House of Commons on the same day. the practice of repeating the Answers to Commons Private Notice Questions by means of arranged Private Notice Questions in the Lords ceased in November 1983.

18th December 1980:

Lord Brockway

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will make a Statement on the situation in Northern Ireland arising from the hunger strike of men and women prisoners, and the likely effect in extending violence.

*11th February 1981:

Lord Ross of Marnock

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will make a Statement about the proposed closure of the Talbot factory at Linwood.

8th February 1982:

Lord Balfour of Inchrye

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they can inform the House of the latest position as regards Laker Airways and prospects for possible survival of all or part of its organisation, thereby securing the positions of all or some of the air crews and ground personnel.
