HL Deb 14 January 1986 vol 469 cc1064-5WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What were the proposals of the non-aligned nations on the subject of the non-use of force at the Stockholm Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, and what is the attitude of the Government to these proposals.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

The Neutral and Non-Aligned Group proposals on Non-Use of Force (NUF) were tabled on 15th November 1985 as part of the amplified version of their original 1984 proposal. Their language on Non-Use of force draws on the Helsinki Final Act, the Madrid Concluding Document and UN agreements. As a conference document, the Neutral and Non-Aligned group proposal is not in the public domain. It is currently being considered by ourselves and our allies.
