558Wresults are now available. The evaluation consisted of a long-term "quantitative" survey to check significant shifts in opinion and attitudes as well as a smaller "qualitative" study of the campaign. The main findings of the evaluation include:
—the campaign was widely noticed and appreciated not only by young people, the main target audience, but also by parents.—a reduction in the proportion of young people who considered heroin attractive or glamorous.—an increased awareness of the social and physical ill-effects of misusing heroin.—an increased resistance to the idea of experimenting with heroin.This evaluation will form the base from which decisions about activity in 1986–87 will be made. A budget of £2 million will be available for further work in 1986–87.
