§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police forces have applied for an increase in establishment over the last 12 months; and on what criteria he reaches his decisions on such applications.
§ Mr. Giles ShawFifteen police authorities in England and Wales have applied for increases totalling 595 in their authorised establishments for the financial year 1985–86 or later. One hundred and eleven additional posts have so far been approved for seven forces, and decisions will be made shortly on the outstanding applications.
