§ Mr. Bruceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will institute an inquiry into the operation of the Scottish Examination Board during the academic year 1984–85 with regard to the number of complaints about exam results, the recruitment of markers in the current year and the Scottish Examination Board's ability to maintain marking standards.
§ Mr. Allan StewartI see no need for such an inquiry. I congratulate the board on maintaining its normal high standards in the operation of the 1985 examinations in the face of considerable difficulties and am confident that these standards will be maintained in 1986.
