§ Mr. WaldenMy right hon. Friend and I met Professor Lamb, Dr. Mulvey and Dr. Leggett representing the Save British Science Campaign on 17 February. My right hon. Friend welcomed the emergence of Save British Science as a voice of the scientific community. There was agreement about the desirability of some increase in support for science both from public funds and from industry, but my right hon. Friend pointed out that a convincing case needed to be made in terms of economic benefit.
