§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement on co-ordination between the Department of Education and Science and the Scottish Office on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards proposals by the Scottish Tertiary Education Advisory Council for the future funding of universities in Scotland.
§ The Prime MinisterThere is close co-ordination between the Department of Education and Science and the Scottish Office on higher education policy, and this has been maintained at all stages during the Scottish Tertiary Education Advisory Council's strategy review and since its report was published. Decisions on the future funding arrangements for the Scottish universities will be made in due course.
