§ Mr. Wattsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what information is available to him to compare the achievements of pupils, and the cost of education, in selective and non-selective systems.
§ Mr. DunnSome information on the relative achievements of pupils in selective and non-selective schools is available from research studies, including 641W research into examination results for individual local education authorities published by the Department in "Statistical Bulletin 13/84". Following his announcement in the House on 14 November 1984, at column 697, my right hon. Friend is considering proposals for wider ranging research into the factors affecting performance in schools. Information on costs in individual schools or school systems is not available centrally.
