§ 49. Mr. Millanasked the Solicitor-General for Scotland if he will make a statement about the transfer of certain types of summary case from a sheriff court to the district courts in Glasgow.
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandGlasgow has four district courts presided over by stipendiary magistrates, who have the full summary criminal jurisdiction of sheriffs. It is the policy of the procurator fiscal to make full use of these courts and thereby to relieve some of the pressures on the sheriff court which will continue to be fully utilised.
