HC Deb 25 February 1986 vol 92 c521W
25. Mrs. Clwyd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what assessment he has made of the implications of the social security review for the future level of demand for social services for single parents.

Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the implications of the social security review for the work of social workers.

Mr. Newton

We do not expect the reform of social security to have a significant direct effect on the level of demand for social services, although our proposals for the social fund recognise the importance of good liaison between social services departments and social security offices. A major objective of our proposals for the income-related benefits is to direct more help to families with children, including lone parents.
