Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport which of the 30 fog blackspots on the M25 recently identified are currently lit; how many of the remainder he plans to have lit; and if he will list them.

The following fog-prone sites on the M25 are lit:

  • River Roding crossing
  • River Lee crossing
  • Junction 5 area
  • Between Junctions 13 and 14
  • The "Paddocks" area
  • Junction 23 area
  • Junction 7 area
  • Between Junctions 29 and 30
  • Junction 25 area
  • Between Junctions 30 and 31
  • Junction 28 slip roads.

Additionally, lighting will be provided at junction 6. I am presently considering the position in relation to the remainder of the sites identified.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport which stretches of the M25 opened in 1985 and due to be opened in 1986 will be lit.

Lighting has been, or will be, provided on the sections of the M25 between junctions 14 and 15 and on junctions 3, 6, 11, 15, 21, 21A and the remainder of junction 23.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list the total number of miles of the M25 currently lit and the number of miles unlit.

There are 44.5 miles currently lit and 62.55 miles unlit.
