§ Mr. HayhoeHealth authorities are responsible for estimating their manpower needs, and their proposals for staffing in 1986–87 are at present being considered in the context of their short-term programmes for that year. Employment in the family practitioner services is expected to increase slightly in line with past trends despite a small projected reduction in administrative and clerical posts. Local authorities are responsible for the staffing of social services departments.
