HC Deb 25 February 1986 vol 92 c482W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Prime Minister if any of the cases of fraud not prosecuted because of the difficulty of obtaining evidence to which she referred in her interview with CBI News involve public money, including Bank of England money.

The Prime Minister

Certain fraud investigations have been hindered by difficulties in obtaining evidence, in particular evidence from abroad. It is, however, hoped that these difficulties will be overcome and that the cases will be brought to trial. I am aware of four such cases, currently under investigation, in which the misappropriation of public money is involved.
