HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 c417W
Mr. Sheerman

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what percentage of British tractor requirements are fulfilled by imports from overseas countries; and what percentage of these are from Czechoslovakia.

Mr. Alan Clark

In 1984, the last complete year for which data is available, imports are estimated to have accounted for 78 per cent. of the United Kingdom market for complete tractors in value terms. Two per cent. of these imports were from Czechoslovakia. In the first three quarters of 1985, the corresponding figures were 66 per cent. and 3.5 per cent. respectively.
