HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 cc452-3W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will set up a comprehensive inquiry into the discharge of radioactive materials from all sources in Scotland, and sources outwith Scotland which affect Scotland, and of possible links with the incidence of leukaemia and other cancers and related matters.

Mr. John MacKay

No. As the hon. Member knows the statistics on leukaemia are already being examined in detail. Where rates are significantly in excess of those expected and in areas where there could be possible links with radiation the relevant information is being referred to the Committee on the Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment.
