asked the Paymaster General how many work permits he has authorised for foreign nationals to work for News International; and what criteria he has used.

In the last 12 months, one work permit has been issued—on 19 December 1985. The conditions of the work permit scheme were satisfied: permits are granted in respect of employment requiring professional qualifications, administrative responsibility or high technical skills, for which resident labour is not available.
