HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 c451W
Mr. Beaumont-Dark

asked the Lord Privy Seal if he will describe the medical facilities available in the House at all times when the House is sitting.

Mr. Biffen

Details of the Palace of Westminster's medical facilities and procedures to be followed in an emergency are contained in the leaflet issued jointly by the Serjeant at Arms and Black Rod. I have asked for a copy to be sent to my hon. Friend.

Mr. Beaumont-Dark

asked the Lord Privy Seal how many staff working in the House, including security staff and police, are trained in the use of first aid and in particular in the use of oxygen equipment.

Mr. Biffen

Forty-seven members of staff and 139 police and security officers are trained in first aid, including resucitation techniques. With the exception of the nursing sister, their training does not include the use of oxygen equipment.
