Mrs. RenéShortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consultations he proposes to have with local education authorities and with representatives of the National Association of Head Teachers about establishing in school curricula long-term anti-drugs education programmes.
§ Mr. DunnI shall be meeting representatives from the National Association of Head Teachers later this week to discuss its recent memorandum on drug abuse and other issues arising.
The Health Education Council is preparing curriculum material on drug misuse which will become available for teachers and teacher trainers later this year. Local authority staff, appointed with funding from education support grant, will also be well placed to develop local programmes.
