HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 c412W
Mr. Simon Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the amount spent (a) by local government, (b) by central Government and (c) by other bodies on combating drug addiction in each London borough for the last year for which figures are available.

Mr. Mellor

Central Government expenditure in 1985–86 includes £750,000 under the DHSS funding initiative on drugs projects serving Greater London, £57,000 under the urban programme on drugs projects in London boroughs, and £183,000 under the after-care accommodation scheme on drugs projects in the inner London probation area. It is not possible to quantify separately the far larger total contribution to combating drug misuse in London made by other central Government expenditure. The other information requested is not available.
