HC Deb 20 February 1986 vol 92 c297W
30. Ms. Clare Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has any proposals to increase the information available to his Department on the incidence of racial attacks.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The guidance which the Association of Chief Police Officers issued in October on the handling of racial attacks drew attention to the importance of obtaining reliable local information about the incidence of racial attacks, in order that police forces should be responsive to such incidents in each area. There are no present plans to collate these records nationally, but the Department regularly seeks information about the nature and extent of racial attacks, and measures being taken to combat them.
