Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will make further representations to the Security Council of the United Nations to make effective efforts to restrain Iran from further attacks on Iraq and to bring the conflict in the Gulf to an end.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)

The United Nations Security Council are actively involved in pursuing ways in which the conflict between Iran and Iraq might be brought to an early peaceful conclusion. We unreservedly support these efforts and those of the United Nations Secretary-General.
