HL Deb 19 February 1986 vol 471 cc707-8WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have studied the report of the Northern Ireland Assembly's Committee on the Government of Northern Ireland on the Anglo-Irish Agreement (published on 29th January 1986, N.I.A. 237, 1–3) and in particular the evidence of Professor A. E. Alcock, in volume 3, pages 161–178; and whether they can yet form any conclusions on this matter.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Northern Ireland Office (Lord Lyell)

The Government are studying the report of the Northern Ireland Assembly's Committee on the Government of Northern Ireland on the Anglo-Irish Agreement, including the evidence of Professor A. E. Alcock. The report seems to contain some misunderstandings and misconceptions about the agreement. The Government wish to clear these up and are ready to talk to Members of the Assembly about them.
