The number of people employed in the United Kingdom textile and clothing industries was 500,400 in June 1983, 490,500 in June 1984 and 483,300 in June 1985.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assessments he has made of the impact of the multi-fibre arrangement on employment in the textile and clothing industries.

A number of studies have attempted to assess the employment consequences of the MFA. These I look at with interest and attention.
