asked the Paymaster General if he has any new plans to seek to reduce long term male unemployment in inner city areas; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lang

The community programme, which provides employment for the long term unemployed, continues to expand towards its target of 230,000 places by June. My right hon. and learned Friend made a statement on 6 February about new help the Government are directing to inner city areas.

asked the Paymaster General what new initiatives will be undertaken in the drive to fight unemployment in the inner cities.
