§ Mr. Simon Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the location and respective size of each site owned or managed by the British Gas Corporation, that is either surplus to requirements or derelict land in England and Wales.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithInformation (which includes the area of each site) on unused or underused land owned by the British Gas Corporation, and by other public bodies, is held on registers in accordance with the Local Government Planning and Land Act 1980. Registers covering the whole of England are available for inspection at the Department of the Environment headquarters. Each of that Department's regional offices and each local authority holds a register of such sites which are within its boundaries. Registers covering Wales are being drawn up,122W but are not yet complete and I am asking the chairman of the corporation to write to the hon. Member with the relevant information.
