§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the national information collection system described in circular HOC 67/1984 LCDJ(84)1 can now indicate waiting times for cases to be heard in magistrates' courts; and whether delays, broken down by types of offence, will be published.
§ Mr. MellorThe first national collection took place in June 1985 and the second in October 1985. Justices' clerks have been supplied with statistics for the petty sessional divisions for which they are responsible. A statistical bulletin summarising the June data, and including a breakdown by type of offence, is in course of preparation and is expected to be published soon.
