§ 32. Mr. Canavanasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make a statement about government assistance in the future for the Westland helicopter company.
§ Mr. PattieOutstanding sums amounting to about £57 million remain to be paid to the company by my Department in launch aid and other assistance, principally in relation to the EH101 project. Westland will continue to be eligible for Government assistance in the future on the same basis as other aerospace companies in the private sector.
§ 70. Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on Government policy on the current position of the Westland helicopter company.
§ Mr. PattieAn extraordinary general meeting of Westland shareholders is taking place today at which proposals for a financial reconstruction of the company are being considered.
