§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to enable district councils to add to the national non-domestic rate poundage proposed in "Paying for Local Government", Cmnd. 9714, an element which will reimburse the local authority for giving a commercial refuse disposal service.
§ Mr. WaldegraveLocal authorities currently have a duty to make reasonable charges for trade refuse disposal. This would not be affected by introduction of a national non-domestic rate.
