§ Mr. ButcherThe Department of Trade and Industry fully supports the designation of 1986 as Industry Year by the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. It is contributing half the total central administrative costs of the initiative. The Department has also provided or funded secondees to help run the campaign and funded or supported Industry Year activities run by other organisations. The Department has launched new schemes for Industry Year, such as the mini-enterprise in schools project, and is linking and enhancing existing activities. Much existing departmental assistance to industry is contributing to the Industry Year objectives. Departmental Ministers are taking every opportunity to speak on the themes of Industry Year.
