§ Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he proposes to make any changes to the 1985–86 cash limits for his Department's Votes.
§ Sir Keith JosephSubject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimate, the 1985–86 cash limit for Class X, Vote 5, (Research Councils etc.: Agricultural and Food Research Council) will be increased by £2,385,000 from £50,340,000 to £52,725,000. This is to enable the Agricultural and Food Research Council to meet extra short-term costs arising from the restructuring of the council's work, which will lead to cost savings in future years. The increase will be charged to the Reserve and will not therefore add to the planning total of public expenditure.
