§ 26. Mr. Altonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on his plans to make the results of toxicity tests on pesticides available to the public.
§ Mrs. FennerWe are proposing to make available to the public a full evaluation of each pesticide as soon as it becomes commercially available or undergoes a review under the new arrangements. This document details in every respect the product's toxicity, its wildlife and its environmental effects. We also propose to consider, on a case-by-case basis, requests for access to the study reports258W themselves, and to grant access where a request is justified in scientific terms. These proposals are set out in detail in the consultative document "Pesticides: Implementing Part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985" which is in the Library.
§ 47. Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to lay the regulations governing the use of pesticides and the procedure for their approval provided for in the Food and Environmental Protection Act 1985.
§ Mrs. FennerI hope that I and my colleagues will be able to lay the draft regulations provided for in part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act before the summer recess.
