§ Mrs. FennerWe have a comprehensive range of regulations under the Food Act covering the use of food additives. We keep them under regular review but we are always prepared to consider suggestions for improvements.

§ Mrs. FennerThe Food Labelling Regulations 1984 require that with effect from 1 July 1986 all additives that perform a technological function in the final food must be listed either by category name, or by category name and specific name or approved serial number. This is a requirement of the European Community's food labelling directive (79/112). Statutory consultations were undertaken before the United Kingdom regulations were made.
