§ Mr. MellorInformation about the amount of compensation paid to police officers (as distinct from the number of cases in which awards were made to them) in respect of injuries incurred in the course of their duties is available, following a special monitoring exercise, only for four months from 4 June to 3 October 1984. During that period a total of about £568,000 was paid in compensation to 484 police officers.
