HC Deb 04 February 1986 vol 91 c139W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) which local health authorities have so far failed to appoint a registration officer under the Registered Homes Act 1984; and whether any reasons have been given for this delay;

(2) if it has been decided whether the implementation of the Registered Homes Act 1984 and the responsibility for registered homes should be a matter for the housing department or the social services department of local authorities.

(3) if he is satisfied with the operation by local health authorities of the Registered Homes Act 1984; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Whitney

Under the terms of the Registered Homes Act 1984, residential care homes are registered by local social services authorities and nursing homes by district health authorities.
