HC Deb 04 February 1986 vol 91 cc136-7W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give figures for the London postgraduate hospitals that had their own boards of governors before reorganisation showing the total revenue and capital that each received, after allowing for loans made to the district health authority and for efficiency savings, in the three years following reorganisation; and if he will express the average annual figure for the three-year period as a percentage of the revenue and capital received by the hospitals in the last year prior to reorganisation.

Mr. Hayhoe

The 1982 reorganisation of the National Health Service resulted in a major restructuring of the boards of governors for the London postgraduate teaching hospitals. Bloomsbury health authority now manages the Royal National throat, nose and ear hospitals, the Royal National orthopaedic hospitals and St. Peter's hospitals. West Lambeth health authority now manages St. John's hospital for diseases of the skin. The remaining London postgraduates teaching hospitals are now managed by special health authorities. In addition, Hammersmith hospital, formerly part of Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow area health authority (teaching), was given SHA status.

The table shows revenue and capital allocations made to SHAs and boards of governors for the London postgraduate teaching hospitals together with the sums contained within the allocations made to North East Thames and South East Thames regional health authorities in respect of the former boards of governors in the years
