HC Deb 04 February 1986 vol 91 c141W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if his Department is estimating the cost to health authorities of the abolition of Crown immunity.

Mr. Hayhoe

We are urgently reviewing the Crown immunity of the National Health Service under the Food Act but the resource implications of removal would depend on a variety of factors which cannot immediately be assessed.

Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will list the bodies and institutions which have urged the lifting of Crown immunity from hospitals;

(2) from which people or institutions he has sought views on Crown immunity; and what was their advice.

Mr. Hayhoe

I refer the right hon. Member to my reply to him on 28 January at column495.
