HC Deb 04 February 1986 vol 91 c104W
Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, of the 180 applications for the five experimental community radio licences in London, how many were from (a) Greek-speaking and (b) Afro-Caribbean groups.

Mr. Giles Shaw

Of the applications for the five experimental community radio licences in London, 18 are from groups wishing to provide a service primarily for the Greek-speaking community, and 16 for the Afro-Caribbean community. However, there are other applications from groups with a range of ethnic or language backgrounds, including those mentioned, wishing to provide a diversified service.

Mr. Norman Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will now announce the successful applicants for the five experimental community radio licences in London.

Mr. Giles Shaw

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a question from the hon. Member for Woolwich (Mr. Cartwright) on 17 January, at columns 715–16.
