asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many members of the security forces convicted of offences in Northern Ireland and sentenced to custodial sentences have been allowed to return to Great Britain on parole for humanitarian reasons in 1985.

The budget figure for the 1986–87 year is not yet known. The figures for the financial years 1979–80 to 1984–85 exclude costs attributable to fees and awards for students undertaking first level courses at polytechnics.

The figures exclude costs attributable to courses at advanced further education level (normally considered as higher education) in colleges of further education for the financial years 1979–80 to 1985–86.
